Well I’m sure most of you saw the lifted Jeep Commander known as IceBox was totaled.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
After a decent list of test drives including: Grand Cherokee Altitude, F-150, Ram 1500 Big Horn, Durango Citadel, Colorado LT, Acadia, Explorer and of course 2 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicons.
She ended up loving the Wrangler. We were able to score a 2008 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with only 15,000 miles on it because I’m not afraid of a 2 hour drive or buying in another state.
Here it is, she’s calling it Rubi:

As you can see it has 3 big AUX lights on the front, both hard and soft tops, some nice BFG Mud Terrains that should be sub-par in snow (lol) and a hysterical decal on the side that explains the low mileage - it says SNOWBIRDS on the side. So some old people treated it real nice. It basically is a brand new jeep inside.
Plans include a lift kit, step bars on the side because she wants it taller but likes being able to get in, replacing that awful chrome rear bumper, tinted rear windows, and a nav unit.

Nice jeep! If only it was also white.

Holy moly, that rear bumper is terrible.
The aftermarket on these things is huge, of course, but one mod that’s somewhat unsexy and therefore a bit under the radar is for the backseat. Supposedly it’s too upright from the factory, so there are kits available to recline it a bit for a big improvement.

She wanted black, actually she wanted the Commander to be black too, made the best of white though . We looked at a black Rubicon first but someone used it like it was designed for 100% of it’s life. It was thrashed. Will be a great option for someone who only wants a trail rig (didn’t even come with the standard carpet and was all scratched up everywhere).
So I found her another dark colored low-mileage Rubicon and it works out well as we are both Michigan State Alumni and Green is always welcome at our house!

I’ve heard of this kit, kids are both in carseats so not a problem at this point.
But my god that bumper. It has to go!

It’s a handsome rig no doubt.

Not as noisy on the highway as I expecte d.
I’ve got to get better at staying on top of tire rotations though, I don’t want to replace these prematurely.
